Song – Down at the Old NLC
17 July 2004 (19:07:08)
Refers to the National Liberal Club which was, for a time, a sort of drop-in, day centre for Liberals. The Party organisation was based there - for a time in the basement Gents loos - and the building also hosted various lodges of freemasons who, following refurbishments, the introduction of dress regulations and a more radical club membership, vacated the premises

The Dark Ages

Down at the Old NLC

(Words: Mark Taverner, Tune: Down at the Old Bull and Bush)

Come, come, roll up your trouser leg
Down at the old NLC
There to get your apron on:
Learn the secret organ song;
Bend your thumb when you shake hands.
Come, come, drinking till the dinner gong
Down at the old NLC
